With the assistance of interior designer Katie Ridder, renowned actress, Mindy Kaling has renovated and decorated her new home in Hancock Park that is not only full of vibrancy and color but also a lot of character just like the Mindy Project starlet and creator. Today, Bedroom Ideas will focus on the stunning bedroom designs that inhabit this perfect house.
In regards to her relationship and love for Katie Ridder’s work, the witty actress had the following to say “When I was going through her Instagram, I felt like I already lived in that home; I could see myself living there for years. I think it was pretty carte blanche. Of all of my partnerships, this was probably the easiest, and we understood each other.”

Together with Kaling’s architects, Koffka Phakos Design, the main concern Ridder had was to bring the former glory of this beautiful house that was built in the 20s and hadn’t been remodeled in some time. As a result, the designer decided to add lots of color in order to immediately sparkle and warm up the place, in addition, Mindy wanted a very layered home.
When it comes to the bedrooms, Mindy wanted twin beds in one of the bedrooms as she envisioned would be absolutely perfect for her potential future children. This bedroom decor is also very southern-like and rather playful and vibrant.
Kaling simply loves everything that is custom made, and so she wanted a particular look, and so all the beds are custom. The final touch is added by the custom painting by contemporary artist, Dorothy Shain.
“Color feels fun. What I liked about Katie’s vision, there’s virtually no pink. There are blues and teals, and to Katie’s credit, she didn’t pick pink. It’s full-on sophisticated.” – Mindy Kaling
These bedroom designs are extraordinarily organised having a sense of functionality but also supreme elegance. The actress has decided to incorporate several guest rooms to house her friends.
You can see the talented actress in the upcoming fantasy film “A Wrinkle In Time” by the brilliant Ava DuVernay where she will star next to Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon. Kaling is also going to be a part of the heist comedy, Ocean’s Eight, as a member of the all-female crew opposite Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett. So don’t miss out on watching her next projects.
