In Celebration of the Maison&Objet 2017, we thought it would be appropriate to discuss a bit of the work from this year’s M&O designer of the year, Pierre Charpin. In the article, we are going to mainly focus on Charpin’s amazing creation, the slice chair which, in our opinion, would give a cutting-edge and modern vibe to your bedroom, but first let’s briefly introduce the renowned designer.

Prominent French designer and scenographer, Pierre Charpin has been awarded Designer of the Year by Maison et Objet. The artist expresses himself through creating a poetic form of minimalism.
He absolutely dominates the making of creative and meaningful furniture objects, from chairs to tables, to carafes, to pitchers, and the list is never-ending. In 1984, Charpin graduated from Bourges Art School and since then he has become one of the most requested artists from all over the world.
Let’s take a look at one of his most creative and practical designs, the Slice Chair.
This upholstered chair is characterised for extending into aligned coloured stools in rectangular shapes. It was firstly designed in 1996 but it only now it has been put in production by Cinna – “Cinna is happy to announce the re-edition of Slice in an enhanced comfort version… in line with the original intentions of the project.”
The modular blocks from this 80’s inspired piece can be adjusted in length, as they can be easily removed from a space. In the end, this classical chair would look absolutely perfect in your bedroom design (and remember you get to decide how many stools you use) or even in a living room.
